Our Love is Resistance: Weaving Interdependence
Affinity-Belonging Camp (AB Camp) is an experimental community organized, led by, and designed for persons who identify as People of the Global Majority/BIPOC, and/or LGBTQIA+/Genderqueer folks, and their allies.
Together we'll weave strong, interdependent bonds that can serve as our most powerful asset to both survive and thrive. We'll soften our hearts to community as sanctuary; to the knowing that our mutual care, generative conflict, and empowered action will help us weather this collective storm—like so many others have before us.
We’ll spend 5 days co-creating a welcoming nest for us to find deep belonging in loving, liberating community. To let down the masks we keep in the dominant culture, and find solace in a community of like-minded and like-hearted humans—committed to both collective liberation and individual expansion.

Demographics
Affinity-Belonging Camp Pilot 2024, we had a mix of 50-70 campers that included approximately 35% PGM/BiPoC, 35% LGBTQIA+/Genderqueer, and 30% folks who were drawn towards this liberation work as allies.
In addition to BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ folx, we welcome people who hold other systemically undervalued identities to apply. We will do our best to accommodate people with unique access needs of all kinds—from physical, to sensory, and financial.

Affinity-Belonging Camp Goals
To co-create a supportive community, a love-filled nest, where camp participants are invited to speak about the wounds they carry as a result of stereotyping, discrimination and systemic oppression
To initiate a multi-year plan to strengthen and deepen the work of liberation-for-all within our community
To liberate ourselves from these wounds and then to fly the nurturing nest we’ve created through growing perspectives, skills and trusted friendships that allow us to move from oppression to full expression, without shame or fear, wherever we find ourselves
To incorporate music, food and dress from multiple ethnicities
To build compassionate connections between people from different affinity groups and allies, using insights and practices from the New Culture lineage
To bring this work back to our larger communities to create spaces that deeply and sustainably welcome people of ALL races, sexualities, and genders.
